Party on Beale

With dozens of bars and live music venues, on-street entertainment like the Beale Street Flippers and big-name bookends like B.B. King's Blues Club and FedExForum, Beale Street buzzes day and night. It's also framed by two museums that tell the full Memphis music story (through extravagant costumes, legendary instruments, jukeboxes and more) so you can dive into the city's sonic legacy: the Smithsonian-affiliated Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.

Bar-hop for drinks & live music

Bar DKDC is one of many bar/restaurant/live music venues in the Cooper-Young Historic District. The neighborhood is adjacent to the Overton Square Entertainment District, perfect for a night of bar- and concert-hopping around venues including the Overton Park Shell, Lafayette's Music Room and Railgarten. Cooper-Young and Overton Square are also host to some of Memphis' best festivals and record shops, including Goner Records and Gonerfest and Shangri-La Records.

Hang Out(side)

Downtown, outdoor bars are calling your name. Many host occasional live music; all are prime for pre-gaming or a post-concert nightcap. At Loflin Yard, gather around firepits for house-smoked meats and artisanal cocktails. At Wiseacre Brewing Co., grab a picnic table to enjoy local craft brews and wood-fired pizza. At Beck & Call, drink in views of the Mississippi River with your beverage.

Discover a listening room

Discover listening rooms in unexpected places: Inside South Main Street's Central Station (a century-old train depot reborn as a boutique hotel), find a 500-album collection inspired by Memphis, plus impeccable Eggleston Works speakers. The listening room is connected to the hotel's lounge, 8 & Sand, which regularly hosts DJs. At Crosstown Concourse just a few miles east of downtown, settle into the Memphis Listening Lab.
