Metal Museum
Location
The Metal Museum is the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the art and craft of fine metalwork. The collection includes architectural ironwork, jewelry, holloware, and sculpture. Changing exhibits feature work by national and international metalsmiths. Make sure to visit the Museum Store for unique gifts!
The grounds alone are a wonderful reason to visit the Museum. Ornate gates open onto scenic 100-year-old trees, outdoor sculpture, a gazebo made from historic castings, and a breathtaking view of the Mississippi River. This makes the Museum the perfect backdrop for special occasions: weddings, birthdays, family gatherings, or photo opportunities.
The Museum is home to the metalsmithing community and has a working Blacksmith Shop and Foundry. If you have a piece of metalwork that needs mending, the Museum hosts annual Repair Days where, for a fee, artisans will put your treasures back to working condition. Classes are available where you can learn the art of metalworking in the Metals Studio.
