About

The Memphis Art Museum is set to open its doors in December 2026, bringing a bold new cultural landmark to the heart of the city. Working with the international architectural giants Herzog & de Meuron and acclaimed local designers archimania, Memphis’ new art museum is explicitly designed to display the Brooks Museum of Art’s extensive collection of more than 9,000 artworks spanning 5,000 years of art and culture.

At the edge of the river and in the heart of downtown, the Museum will play a pivotal role in connecting the riverwalk to the bustling streets. Art will spill out onto the sidewalks that will be transform the pedestrian experience into a newly paved, uninterrupted art experience with flowing pedestrian thoroughfares, bollards for safety, and intentional landscaping.

The museum will also have a theater, cafe, and educational space all open for community use. Complete with a 50,000 square foot rooftop sculpture garden with native plantings and meandering pathways, the Memphis Arts Museum invites you to connect with Memphis' art culture from your very first step all the way to the top of the building.
