Why Is There a Memphis Mural in Denver?

Why Is There a Memphis Mural in Denver?

With Denver's laid-back vibe, great food, a love for music and an affinity for beer - it was a no-brainer to leave a public invitation for our friends in Colorado to come hang out in Memphis. You'll love our craft breweries with beer made from delicious Memphis auquifer water, the smoky flavor of Memphis barbecue, making a pilgrimage to the birth place of rock 'n' roll and dancing the night away to the music of our legends-in-the-making.

From the Bluff City to the Mile High City we invite you to Memphis!

Birdcap’s “Memphis” Mural Defined:

Elvis Presley

When asked after returning from the Army what he missed most about Memphis, he replied, “Everything.” Presley's Graceland mansion home is located in the heart of South Memphis and is known as the world’s most famous rock ‘n’ roll residence. Tour Graceland to see how the king lived, visit the new Elvis Presley’s Memphis entertainment complex to experience the rock 'n' roll legacy, and then check into neighboring Guest House at Graceland – a luxury resort hotel that reflect’s the king’s warm spirit and iconic tastes.

The Fish

The wide-eyed blue catfish leaping across the mural is a nod to both the mighty Mississippi River…and the lip-smacking fried, grilled, and blackenedcatfish you can enjoy at Memphis' many soul food andSouthern restaurants. Get a close-up view of the river with Allen’s Kayaking Adventure, watch the sunset over the Mississippi at the new Front Porch restaurant, or sail away on the Memphis Queen, which docks at Beale Street Landing.

The Pyramid

Memphis is home to the largest pyramid in North America, an ultimate tribute to the African city of Memphis, Egypt that inspired our city's name. Today, the pyramid houses the world’s largest outdoor supply store – a Bass Pro Shops. Inside the steel and glass pyramid, you'll discover restaurants, a luxury hotel, bowling alley, aquariums, and a 32-story high observation deck.

Beale Street

Named one of the most iconic street in the world, Beale Street invites millions of visitors to party along its neon lit streets in authentic juke joints. Dozens of bars, nightclubs and restaurants line the street and entertain visitors of all ages every day of the year. Make sure to stop by the three spots called out in Birdcap’s Memphis mural: the original B.B. King’s Blues Club, Tater Red’s and the Memphis Music Store.

Rack ‘o Ribs

Memphis has over 100 barbecue joints around the city. So whether you're looking for dry rub ribs, pulled pork slathered in sweet sauce, ‘qued nachos and all the best sides – there’s a shack, restaurant, or food truck perfectfor your next visit.

Birdcap x Jerry Lawler

Wrestling fans may recognize Memphis celebrity Jerry “The King” Lawler. Birdcap's artistic representation of Lawler - including his iconic crown - is a nod to Memphis' role in professional wrestling sport entertainment since the 1950s. Stop at one of Jerry's barbecue joints on Beale or in East Memphis, you mightcatch a sighting of "The King".
