Elvis fans are in for a treat: Marlowe’s dining rooms are decked out with all sorts of memorabilia and collectibles, paying tribute to the King of Rock and Roll.
Come hungry! Along with Memphis-style ‘cue, you’ll find Southern fried chicken tenders, burgers and even Italian family recipes.
The Grub
Starters
For apps, share an order of BBQ nachos. You heard that right: This Memphis specialty piles tortilla chips, white queso, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapenos topped with pulled pork and Marlowe’s house barbecue sauce. For a Southern favorite, grab the fried green tomatoes or sample “The King’s signature sandwich,” a peanut butter and banana sandwich on white bread served with a side of bacon.
Memphis Barbecue
Now, this is Memphis, so, of course, we recommend the barbecue, which Marlowe’s smokes onsite. From award-winning ribs and the pulled pork dinner to smoked BBQ chicken, beef brisket and BBQ shrimp, all served with beans and slaw, Marlowe’s does it up right. In fact, Marlowe’s has been perfecting its smoking techniques and recipes since 1985. For a real Memphis staple, try the BBQ Spaghetti. This family-owned spot’s Italian roots ring true in a dish that’s become quite popular around various Memphis barbecue joints.
Mains
If you’re not in a ‘cue-kind-of-mood, you’ll find a menu jam-packed with mouthwatering plates. Mama Gigliotti’s homemade lasagna, packed with Italian sausage, ground beef, ricotta and mozzarella, is a must. Breaded and fried in-house, the Southern fried chicken tender dinner is a favorite among kids and adults alike. Plus, you’ll find tons of burgers (we recommend the Elvis Burger: a burger patty topped with smoked ham, bacon and American cheese … yum!) and salads too.
On the Side
Marlowe’s doesn’t take sides lightly. Mac and cheese, Southern-style green beans, fried okra — you can get a heaping helping of Southern-favorite sides to go along with your entrée.
Dessert
And for dessert? A crispy crème banana foster sundae: a donut topped with vanilla ice cream, sautéed bananas, peanut butter sauce and whipped cream, creating a deliciously sweet ode to the King’s favorite sandwich. There’s banana pudding, brownie sundaes and apple pie, too.
The Marlowe’s Experience
Elvis fans are in for a treat at Marlowe’s, as each dining area is essentially a mini-Elvis exhibit hall. You’ll see paintings and memorabilia covering every corner of the restaurant, from a replica stage jumpsuit and karate gi to life-size cutouts and hundreds of photographs of the King. You might even spot one of Elvis’ old friends or band members dropping by for a bite during Elvis Week or after Elvis’ Birthday Celebration.
Don’t forget about Marlowe’s full bar. It’s an excellent spot for a nightcap or to catch a game.
Need a ride? Arrive Elvis-style in a pink Cadillac limo. With a fleet of these Elvis-inspired limousines, Marlowe’s offers a free shuttle service to and from area hotels, including The Guest House at Graceland, Graceland RV Park & Campground, Days Inn by Wyndham Memphis at Graceland and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Memphis Airport Elvis Presley Boulevard.
Before you go, stop into the gift shop to grab Marlowe’s barbecue sauce and rub, t-shirts and all sorts of Elvis merchandise, collectibles and books.
