The Memphis Grizzlies tip off their 26th season in Memphis in 2026-27, and it's the start of something new.
The franchise began in Vancouver in 1995 and moved to Memphis in 2001, playing its first three seasons in the Pyramid. Since 2004, home has been FedExForum on Beale Street, better known to fans as the Grindhouse.
Memphis built its NBA identity on grit: seven straight playoff trips from 2011 to 2017, a run to the 2013 Western Conference Finals, and a style of play so tough the city adopted its motto. Then came the Ja Morant highlight years. Now the Grizz turn the page again with an almost entirely new young core, led by No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer.
Three members of the beloved "Core Four" have their numbers retired in the rafters: Zach Randolph (50), Marc Gasol (33) and Tony Allen (9).
Can't-Miss Home Games This Season
The 2026-27 schedule is stacked with reunions. Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane all come back to FedExForum in new uniforms, and February brings the longest homestand in franchise history: eight straight home games, Feb. 3–18.
Here are the dates to circle:
- Oct. 21, 2026, vs. Utah Jazz: Opening Night brings a hometown halftime show from Memphis rapper NLE Choppa, plus sets from BlocBoyJB and guitar great Eric Gales and a national anthem by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Get there early for the free Plaza Party (5–7 p.m.) and the 6:40 p.m. parade with Grizz, the Grizzline and the Grizz Girls. On the court, it's the new-look Grizz's home debut and a homecoming for Jaren Jackson Jr., now in Utah. The first 10,000 fans get a growl towel.
- Nov. 6, 2026, vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: The Grizz open NBA Cup group play at home against one of the league's best. It's also HBCU Night, with a giveaway designed by Memphis brand Good Hippy, and it's a Friday, so hot dogs are $1.
- Jan. 10 and 12, 2027, vs. Dallas Mavericks: Back-to-back chances to see Cooper Flagg, the 2025 No. 1 pick. Flagg and Boozer are both Duke one-and-dones, so expect plenty of Blue Devil talk.
- Jan. 18, 2027, vs. Houston Rockets: The 24th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Game, one of the NBA's signature MLK Day events, airs nationally on Peacock. Pair it with a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum.
- Feb. 3, 2027, vs. Philadelphia 76ers: LeBron James makes his only Memphis stop of the season in a Sixers jersey.
- Feb. 6, 2027, vs. Portland Trail Blazers: Ja Morant's first game back in Memphis. It's a 4:30 p.m. Saturday tip on Prime Video, and the first 3,000 fans get a Grizzlies skate deck. Can't get in? The teams play again Feb. 8.
- Feb. 15, 2027, vs. New York Knicks: The defending NBA champions visit on Presidents Day.
- March 20, 2027, vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Memphis Music Night, with a vinyl album pressed in collaboration with Memphis Record Pressing for the first 3,000 fans.
The New-Look Grizzlies
The New-Look Grizzlies
The 2026-27 Grizzlies are a brand-new team. Between June 2025 and June 2026, Memphis traded its three cornerstones — Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant — and rebuilt around one of the youngest, most promising cores in the NBA. Most of the rotation is 25 or under, and much of it grew up together through last season's growing pains.
Leading the way is Cameron Boozer, the No. 3 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-10 Duke forward (and son of former All-Star Carlos Boozer) is a strong finisher, a gifted passer and an early Rookie of the Year favorite. Around him: a 7-foot-4 anchor in the middle, a wing group that can run with anyone, and a few veterans to keep it all steady.
Meet the new Grizz:
- Cameron Boozer, F: The No. 3 overall pick and the face of the new era.
- Zach Edey, C: All 7-foot-4 of him. Edey averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds and nearly two blocks last season. Keeping him healthy after two ankle surgeries is priority one.
- Cedric Coward, G/F: A breakout second-year wing who scored 27 in just his third NBA game.
- Jaylen Wells, F: A tough two-way wing and fan favorite.
- Ty Jerome, G: The steady veteran point guard running the offense.
- Cam Spencer, G: Sharpshooter off the bench.
The front office added experience too: forward Jerami Grant came from Portland in the Morant deal, and Isaiah Stewart arrived from Detroit to bring some old-school Memphis toughness. Rookies Karim López, a 19-year-old forward from Mexico, and BYU sharpshooter Richie Saunders round out the draft class. Taj Gibson, a 17-year veteran, is the locker-room elder. Tuomas Iisalo, the Finnish coach known for a fast, pressing style, is in his second full season on the bench.
Expectations? Patience. Most previews project a rebuilding year. But this is a team of young players getting real minutes, which makes for fast, loose, highlight-heavy basketball and the chance to say you saw them first.

About FedExForum
Tony Allen gave it the nickname, and fans made it stick: FedExForum is the Grindhouse. It seats about 18,000 for basketball, sits a block off Beale Street, and gets loud fast.
Game nights start outside, where the Grizzline drumline fires up the plaza. Inside, look for growl towels twirling, Grizz the mascot working the crowd, and "Whoop That Trick" shaking the building at big moments. Memphis artists and brands design many of the season's giveaways, so the merch is as local as the music.
Big changes are coming, too. The city, county and team are moving ahead on a planned $550 million renovation of the arena, tied to a new long-term lease.
What Are the Food Options?
FedExForum leans local. Top picks include:
- Barbecue nachos and sandwiches from Memphis icon Rendezvous, with stands on multiple levels
- Street tacos from Taco-N-Ganas
- Local pours from Wiseacre Brewing and Old Dominick Distillery
- Quick grab-and-go stands and a self-serve food court for fast in-and-out
The arena is cashless. For the full rundown, see the FedExForum Food Guide.
How Can I Get to a Game?
- Walk: If you're staying Downtown, you're likely within a 15-minute walk of the arena.
- Trolley: The Main Street Trolley stops about two blocks from FedExForum.
- Rideshare: Drop-off and pick-up are on Fourth Street, between Beale Street and Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue.
- Drive: The attached FedExForum Gossett Motors garage (1,500 spaces) is sold to season-ticket holders for Grizzlies games. Roughly 6,700 more spaces sit within a quarter mile; reserve one ahead on a parking app. Accessible parking is available in the garage and the Linden Avenue area.
