The Ultimate Memphis Patio List: 100+ Places To Eat and Drink Outside

Here it is: Memphis area patios, listed (generally) by neighborhood. Have a patio to add to the list? Let us know at [email protected]!

Ed. Note: hours, availability and dog-friendly status is subject to change. It's always good to call ahead for the most up-to-date info!

Some of these may not say dog-friendly or kid-friendly but it doesn't mean they're not! We made notes where we're certain dogs are allowed. Kid-friendly means running around and playing isn't discouraged at these spots.

Railgarten | Alex Shansky
Railgarten in Cooper Young has multiple outdoor spaces with patios, a stage, and a playground.

SOUTH MAIN

South Main has an incredible amount of patios and variety in set-ups. Here are a few of note.

Loflin Yard

One of the largest patio offerings in not just the South Main neighborhood but all of Memphis. I like to think of the patio as three different areas: the main courtyard with numerous seating options and fire pits, a grassy backyard, and a covered more backdoor area by the safe house. They also have a few outdoor TVs too. Pet and kid friendly.

For an outdoor sports vibe, hit Max’s Sports Bar. The outdoor deck with covered portions and TVs will be in the back of the bar but they also have a few small patio tables out front too.

Ghost River Brewing

You can’t go wrong with either Ghost River location for a patio vibe. The original South Main location offers spacious seating options, covered and not. They host a ton of movie nights and events outside plus they’re building a new stage for live music. Pet and kid friendly.

Slider Inn Downtown

Slider Inn has done so much to add to their patio experience with a music stage and large TV. Soak up the sun near their outdoor bar or lounge in one of their covered booths. Always a great spot for live music. Pet and kid friendly.

Wiseacre Taproom

The downtown HQ for Wiseacre has a huge outdoor seating from large picnic tables, intimate tables under the trees, and tables surrounding the building. Guaranteed to find a spot you like here and if you’re lucky–during a night of live music on their outdoor stage. Pet and kid friendly.

Momma’s

Cozy yet fun is the vibe for Momma’s expanded patio with both covered and uncovered areas. The added overhead canopies add a nice touch for the outdoor seating. There is also a stage with live music constantly in the rotation.

Sage Memphis

It’s hard to choose to sit outside when Sage just had a beautiful renovation inside but the patio gives all the comfort you need while you enjoy a fusion of soul cuisine. The patio is perfect for one of their mimosa flights.

Enjoy the sights of the passing trolley at one of the best large patios in downtown. The moveable tables are perfect for large groups looking to split some pizza. Covered too.

Majestic Grille

I’d pull out the measuring tape but I think it’s safe to say that Majestic Grille has one of the largest patios north of Beale in downtown. The striped awnings and flower beds make it that much more picture perfect.

Silly Goose

They have a wraparound covered patio that’s elevated away from the business of the street. The counter lining the street is perfect for people watching while chowing down on a wood fire pizza.

Flight Restaurant

For many restaurants, patios offer a much more laid back vibe. Not Flight! Go here for one of the best outdoor fine-dining experiences in all of downtown. The white table clothed tables outdoors shows they mean business. Covered too.

Grind City Brewing

This Pinch District brewery is basically one big backyard. Enjoy craft beer or seltzer on the large deck or picnic tables on the lawn. I’ve seen many people pack lawn chairs and blankets too. No shortage of seating ever here. Pet and kid friendly.

Comeback Coffee

Tucked in the back is the cutest private patio perfect for an early morning coffee or afternoon break. The architecture of the space is a major mood booster. A great study spot too.

There is no shortage of outdoor seating at Crosstown Brewing Co. (and Crosstown Concourse in general!) The brewery has a large area of picnic tables or sit inside next to the open garage doors. Outdoor seating lines all of Crosstown Concourse to enjoy all the offerings of the vertical village. Global Cafe, MEMPops, Abner’s, and so much more.

JEM Dining

This approachable fine dining restaurant is one of the newest spots in Memphis and it offers a cute patio to enjoy a drink or meal at. Umbrellas offer shade on a hot day and the nearby mural makes for a perfect photo op with your crew.

Inkwell

Head across the street to one of our favorite night time patios to post up at. They have a beautiful and spacious courtyard to sip on cocktails at. Occasionally, there’s live music or DJ and it makes for an elite vibe.

ECCO on Overton Park

You’d never know the expansive–and glorious–patio ECCO offers from its cozy front entrance (that also offers an additional patio space). It’s like a hidden Italian backyard oasis. Or if you want outdoor vibes but still inside in the AC, opt to dine in their Garden Room.

Sunrise Memphis

Sometimes breakfast is best served outdoors. Those early hours of the day offer the best break from the heat. Sunrise Memphis’ downtown location offers plenty of seating while you enjoy a coffee and biscuit sammy.

MIDTOWN

Railgarten

Arguably one of the best outdoor patios in Memphis. A playground of sorts for both adults and children. There is an actual playground for children, by the way. There’s no shortage of seating both covered and not. Enjoy live music on their outdoor stage or just soak up the sun. Dog and kid-friendly.

Mary’s B.O.T.E

The patio at one of Memphis’ newest hot spots is hidden in the back but worth venturing out of the dimly lit tiki bar. The patio, which has covered areas, keeps the tiki vibes going with an adorable assortment of flamingos strung up along its walls.

Slider Inn

There’s a reason Slider Inn is gracing this list twice. Both of their locations have two of the best patios. The Midtown OG location has a great laid back vibe and misters on those hot Memphis days. And there are many of them. We love how this spot also offers shaded areas too. Dog friendly.

Molly’s La Casita

If you haven’t ventured to Molly’s recently, you may have missed their courtyard patio expansion. Margaritas just taste better on a patio. There are umbrella covered picnic tables or uncovered tables to choose from.

COOPER-YOUNG

Hammer & Ale

The perfect patio to enjoy one of their numerous craft beer selections. Opt for one of their super cute beer flights that come in a muffin styled tin to try a variety. This spot was just made for day drinking, imo. Dog friendly!

Cafe Ole

Another favorite patio of ours can be found at Cafe Ole where there is no shortage of seating. There’s a stage for lie music plus the bar can open to the outside too. Patio best enjoyed with a margarita. Dog friendly!

Celtic Crossing

This beloved Irish pub also has a huge patio. There are umbrellas for those wanting some shade plus lots of seating in completely covered areas. Celtic also offers an outdoor bar with seating plus TVs outside. Dog friendly!

Patio hopping is easy in Cooper-Young! Keep it going with a visit to one of the city’s newest breweries. Ample patio seating is available out front with more tables lining the side of the building. The garage style door opens in the back if you want the outside breeze. Dog friendly!

Soul Fish Cafe

Enjoy lunch or dinner on Soul Fish Cafe’s patio. There are quite a few tables available plus it’s also covered!

There are two patio areas at Bayou perfect for brunching on–or anytime really. A bonus is both offer fans for those super hot days.

Lafayette’s Music Room

A double-decker of patios–literally! Soak up the sun up top or cover up on the first floor. Either way, you should be able to hear the music trickle out from inside.

Second Line

I’d say Second Line also has two patios between the front options and the back which is a crown jewel of patios. Back patio has plentiful seating, string lights for good night vibes, a bar with seating, and heaters for cold nights.

Saltwater Crab

An underrated patio and spot in general. There are quite a few patio tables, all covered, and there are fans to try and keep it a bit cooler. Pro-tip: Hit it for their brunch!

Porch & Parlor

Looking for an elevated, fine-dining experience with outdoor seating? Porch & Parlor is that spot. Some tables are covered with others out in the open. Candlelit dinners outside just hit better.

BROAD AVE. + BINGHAMPTON

City & State

Greeted with the “Well Hello” painted wall, City & State has one of the most welcoming outdoor patios of all Memphis coffee shops. They almost always have a bowl of water out for the pups too which is so appreciated. Dog-friendly!

If it’s been awhile since your last visit to Hampline, you may have missed the massive patio expansion they’ve done over the years. There is plenty of picnic table seating available plus a stage for live music, trivia, comedy nights, etc. Dog-friendly!

Venice Kitchen

The patio at Venice Kitchen has really been spruced up. Literally. The added plants that line the patio and hang from the pergola make the space feel cozy. Umbrella tables add an element of shade too.

Lucchesi’s Beer Garden

With beer garden in its name, we had to shout out Lucchesi’s for a patio option. It’s the perfect outdoor space to enjoy one of their hundreds of beer options. The large patio is partially covered by an awning for shade plus it has fans to help keep you cool.

Build your perfect Memphis meal:

I love to eat so if I were to have only one meal left.. I’m going all out. I’d start with an app of Gumbo Fries from Blue City Cafe or Bayou Fries from Chef Tam, wings from Good Fortune or Central’s (honey gold and Jamaican Jerk), potato salad from Fat Larry’s, side of bbq spaghetti from Bar-B-Q Shop, and fried okra from Soul Fish. All paired with a Beale Street Brewing Space Age Sippin’.

Your most memorable Memphis moment:

College GameDay on Beale Street. That was an electric and perfect morning. I was still working in news then and was able to take it in up close and on the stage at some points. The fun and joy of everyone down there that morning is unbeatable.
