If the definition of "commissary" is a small store that sells an assortment of items then I guess the definition works for the Germantown Commissary where you can choose from a large selection of all kinds of BBQ goodness. They are famous for their Memphis-style barbecue: pulled pork and ribs. They also give you a chance to sample their varieties with their 2 or 3 plate combos where you can pair their ribs, shoulders, chicken or links.
Their sides feature some of the best deviled eggs and potato salad in the South or hold out for their "Pig Sticks" which are large planks of fried sweet potatoes. If you like true Southern-style banana pudding, theirs is homemade and very tasty.
The place may not be fancy but the food is to die for. When you go, expect to wait in line. After you have sampled their goods, you'll understand why.
