Campaign Training Event for Women Set for Nov. 1, 2025
Tips on how to fund and shape a political campaign will be shared on Nov. 1, 2025, during a non-partisan training and networking event called Run Women Run 2025.
Run Women Run will be held in Blount Hall, Rhodes College, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The event is being organized by the League of Women Voters of Memphis and Shelby County, Memphis Area Women’s Council and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Memphis Chapter.
This is the third campaign training event organized by the hosts since 2010 when numbers of local women in elected positions had declined dramatically. Since then, women serving the Memphis City Council, Shelby County Board of Commissioners, as judges, court clerks and school board members have increased substantially.
“We celebrate and thank all women who stand up to campaign and to work to make our communities more just and safe,” said Deborah M. Clubb, executive director of the Memphis Area Women’s Council. “Men can be excellent partners and even leaders on issues critical to women but the record shows that when women are engaged, the policy focus more often stays on issues at the root of poverty, violence and inequity.”
On Nov.1, panels of local veteran elected officials and experienced campaigners will discuss strategies, take questions and share anecdotes on being women engaged in political races. Discussions will focus on why to run and how to run --- financing campaigns, managing campaigns and successfully sharing your message.
Registration is $25 and begins at 8:30 a.m. at Blount Hall, Rhodes College, 2000 North Parkway.
