The gospel music community will gather on Friday, November 8, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee, for “A Night of Honor: Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Sara Jordan Powell,” presented by Adept Films Inc. This free, star-studded event will pay tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Sara Jordan Powell, a gospel music pioneer whose voice and ministry have inspired audiences around the world for more than six decades. The celebration will take place before a live audience and will be broadcast nationally on The Word Network, reaching more than 93 million homes across the United States and millions more globally.

Now 86, Dr. Sara Jordan Powell remains one of the most revered figures in sacred music history. Her remarkable career includes performances for three U.S. Presidents, appearances on national and international stages, and an appointment to the National Endowment for the Arts. Her life is a masterclass in visionary leadership, influence, and enduring faith.

The evening will feature electrifying performances from some of gospel music’s most celebrated artists, including Vickie Winans (Grammy-nominated and multi–Stellar Award winner), Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Earnest Pugh (Emmy Award winner), Canaan James Hill (American Idol finalist), Marva King (Tyler Perry’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman), and Memphis’ own Kevin Davidson & Voices, Jason Clark & The Tennessee Mass Choir, among many others. Together, they will honor Dr. Powell’s remarkable contributions to gospel music and her lifelong commitment to sharing the message of faith and hope through song.
