About the Album
Released in 1975, the original Lucille Talks Back stands as one of B.B. King's most soulful and emotionally rich recordings — a masterwork that fused Rhythm & Soul with his signature style of blues in ways that have never been fully appreciated by the mainstream. Despite its brilliance, the album never received widespread distribution, and its entirety is not found on major streaming platforms, leaving it largely unknown to the audiences it deserves. This album will release June 26, 2025.
This remake is a mission of love — to bring Mr. King's vision to the people it was meant to reach. Under the creative direction of Executive Producer Meshell Ndegeocello, the album has been reimagined with reverence and artistry, breathing new life into every track while honoring the heart and soul of the original recordings.
An All-Star Lineup
The project features an extraordinary roster of artists who bring their unique voices and talents to Mr. King's music:
Meshell Ndegeocello · Eric Gayles · Ledisi · Ann Nesby · Cam Anthony
Ink · Cory Henry · Avery Sunshine · Doyle Bramhall II
Together, these artists form a living tribute to the blues tradition — each one carrying forward the torch that B.B. King lit decades ago.
A Night of Celebration
The album release will be marked by a special celebratory event — part party, part networking experience, and part concert. Live performances will be woven throughout the evening, creating an immersive celebration not only of the music, but of B.B. King's life, legacy, and the indelible mark he has left on Memphis and the world.
