This beginner-friendly class will guide you through the creation of three unique sterling silver rings, each offering a chance to explore different techniques while allowing plenty of room for creativity. Whether you prefer a simple, refined look or something bold and expressive, each ring can be customized to suit your personal style and comfort level.

The first project is a textured flat band, a timeless design that allows you to experiment with surface finishes and textures. The second ring is a C-band design featuring a decorative topper with a small bezel-set gemstone, introducing you to basic stone setting. The third ring is a freeform wire coil statement piece, which can be left wild and whimsical or embellished to create a full-knuckle showstopper.

All materials required to complete the three rings are included in the $75 kit fee, which is payable to the instructor at the beginning of class. Throughout the day, you’ll learn a variety of foundational jewelry-making techniques. These include texturing metal, balling wire, cutting and filing, sizing, fabrication (with a focus on understanding the order of operations), soldering with a micro torch, sweat soldering and layering, bezel setting a small stone, and finishing processes such as polishing and applying patina.

If you already own them, feel free to bring tools such as a micro butane torch and fuel, soldering block, jewelry files, hot work tweezers, rawhide or nylon mallet, jewelry pliers, and a steel bench block. You’re also welcome to bring any texture hammers or metal stamps you enjoy using. However, all essential tools and specialized equipment—including texture stamps, hammers, and ring mandrels—will be available for use during the class.

There will be an hour-long lunch break. Please bring your own lunch or plan to visit one of the nearby restaurants.
