Beginner Casting: Aluminum Light Switch Plates

The Metal Museum offers a roster of innovative and affordable classes in blacksmithing, welding, casting and non-ferrous metals. Whether it's a "taster," a three-hour, one-day or weekend workshop, you are sure to learn a lot, have fun and make beautiful metal items that you can be proud of.

Create a custom aluminum switch plate that says your name, has a unique design, or both. In this class students will: make custom switch plate patterns by adding letters or objects to the blank pattern, make a 2-part greensand mold, chase and clean up the aluminum castings, and patina the finished switch plate.
