The Ameripolitan Music Awards Weekend Returns to Memphis

Ameripolitan Awards Weekend Comes to Memphis

For the first time since 2019, the Ameripolitan Music Awards are back!

I’m really excited guys. The Ameripolitan Music Awards are finally coming back to Memphis! The awards weekend hasn’t taken place since 2019 due to the pandemic but the drought is over and it makes its return on Feb. 17-19, 2023.

The Ameripolitan Music Awards celebrates root music – Americana, bluegrass, honky tonk, class country and rockabilly. Celebrate the great sounds with bands and artists from big names, old favorites and rising stars playing showcases through the weekend long festivities. The artists stages will be at both Guest House and Graceland with Hernando’s Hideaway a HQ of sorts.

Hernando’s Hideaway is right by Graceland and is a gem of Memphis history and a seriously cool honky tonk. Disregard all visions of Nashville honky tonks when it comes to this spot. Stepping into Hernando’s is like stepping back into the 60’s/70’s and it's where everyone has played: Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Charley Pride, Rufus Thomas, Freddie Fender, BB King, Booker T and The MG's, and Charlie Rich.

Some of the names nominated or scheduled to perform at the Ameripolitan Music Awards include: Johnny Rodriguez, Sierra Ferrell, Rosie Flores, Kinky Freidman, Brennen Leigh, Summer Dean, Jeremy Pinnell, and The Waymores.

Personally, I can’t wait to see Sierra Ferrell who headlines Saturday’s lineup and happens to be someone I’m a big fan of. She blends sounds of bluegrass, traditional country with a bit of blues and jazz. Also, she’s just incredibly cool. Just check out her Instagram and see for yourself.

Additional events at Hernando’s Hideaway include a Steel Guitar Pull hosted by Lynn Owsley, a Vintage Western Ameripolitan Fashion Show, “Tequila and Teardrops” with Big Sandy, the Texas Takeover Showcase, the popular “Chicken $#+! Bingo” with Dale Watson and the high note of the weekend - the Ameripolitan Music Awards Show. (If you haven’t hit Chicken $#+! Bingo on Sundays at Hernando’s – you’re seriously missing out.)

There’s a whole lot happening during this fun weekend so be sure to visit their website to learn more.
