Spark an imagination and light up a mind with these new exhibits: Kid's Market, Train Safety, Children's Television Station and Reading Library.

The Children's Museum of Memphis hosts a Farmers Market on the parking lot every Saturday May - October from 10am-3pm. Farmers display their fresh produce for sale. Children meet the farmers and learn about how food is grown and where the vegetables they eat come from. Special programming will be offered by the museum related to farming topics.

EXPERIENCE:
The Children’s Museum of Memphis creates memorable learning experiences through the joy of play in hands-on exhibits and programs. The hands-on, interactive exhibits allow you to discover exciting new things about your world! There’s a flight simulator, air traffic control tower, hot air balloon, wind tunnel, real airplane cockpit, 50-foot model of the Mississippi River, two live honeybee colonies, stage to become a “star,” an art studio, real fire engine and sheriff’s car, Tree House to explore, disco to dance in, dentist’s office, Skyscraper, kid’s grocery store, Bank, Garage, and much more!

HISTORY:
The Children’s Museum of Memphis was inspired by the Children’s Museum of Boston. After several Memphians visited the Boston museum and met with their staff, the dream became a plan. The planning group was formed in 1985 and opened the doors to the new museum on June 16, 1990.
The museum has grown in size and attendance over the years. In 2008, the Museum welcomed its 2,500,000th visitor.

INSIDERS TIP:
The Children’s Museum of Memphis is located in the former National Guard Armory that was built from 1941-1942. It is being rented from the City of Memphis for $1 a year for 25 years.

For the professional planner: Groups receive a discounted admission with advance reservations. The Malco 4 Kids theatre is perfect for your meeting or event. The facility has 2,646 sq. ft. that accommodates up to 250 people. Full restaurant-style kitchen, stage and movie screen. Tables and chairs available. Free bus parking, separate group entrance and special orientation. Put hands-on excitement in your group or meeting!
