Director of National Accounts – Mid-Atlantic Territory

Position Summary
Responsible for generating sales leads and group bookings that meet or exceed established goals of the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCVB) from Mid-Atlantic territory, which includes the states of: DC, MD, DE, VA, and WV. Another critical responsibility of this position is to build and manage both external and internal relationships to ensure appropriate resources are available and focused to support achieving objectives.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the solicitation of meeting, convention and sports business by contacting meeting planners, third parties, partner Rep companies that are associated and responsible for the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. 
  • Develop and maintains relationships with meeting planners, groups, and organizations to generate leads and/or group bookings.
  • Develops and maintains a strong and positive working relationship with our partner hotels and attractions in partnering with them to garner our fair share of the meeting and convention business from the Mid-Atlantic Market for the MCVB.
  • Coordinates, arranges and handles site visits and tours for potential convention and meetings business.
  • Accepts a leadership role in the development and implementation of sales strategies, objectives and special sales projects, such as sales missions, blitzes and telemarketing.
  • Develops client files and ensures files are kept current and maintained properly in the database system (Simpleview).
  • Researches and identifies potential convention and meeting bookings for future years in building a solid group base 2-4 years out from current day. 
  • Responsible for planning, attending and follow-up of sales trips, trade shows and marketplaces to develop sales leads and to generate future business.
  • Provides cooperation to the tourism sales staff and other departments of the Bureau in the accomplishment of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Travels into the Mid-Atlantic Market a minimum of 6 times per year, via tradeshow, sales calls or client events. 
  • Maintains good rapport with the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau's membership.

Position Requirements & Qualifications
Education/Experience

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training. 
  • Requires a minimum of five years experience in tourism industry sales.

  • Strong proficiency and proven success implementing targeted sales and marketing efforts to help obtain business objectives and create competitive advantage. 
  • Strong ability to perform well and be unfailingly diplomatic and positive in a high pressure and complex environment.
  • A highly effective communicator with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, concepts, and proposals.
  • Be a team player in working with the sales team, MCCC and our MCVB partners at all times.
  • Drive booking results with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Meets and or exceeds annual room night booking goals

Design & Creative Manager

Position Summary
The Design & Creative Manager is responsible for accurately maintaining and updating the database of all business listings and calendar of events in a timely manner. This position also serves as the in-house graphic designer.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain online calendar of events; ensures the accuracy and that no events are omitted to
  • confirm that events are attended and the appropriate personnel is present.
  • Responsible for ensuring all new members are correctly and timely added to MemphisTravel.com to maintain an effective and current listing to assist with goal of
  • attracting tourist to Memphis.
  • Produce Advertisement (print & online), invitations, holiday cards and badges for all
  • MCVB departments in-house in order to save organizational dollars.
  • Assist CVB staff by providing promotional and advertisement items; designs and produce
  • badges/lanyards, t-shirt designs, banners, dine-around lists, flyers, email invites and
  • customized maps.
  • Designs sales kits, notebook inserts and covers, What’s New Profile Sheets, PowerPoint
  • presentations, Board of Directors reports, Economic Impact report; also manipulate
  • photos and logos a require for specific projects.
  • Gather, organize and submit content to outside designers for production; manage and
  • supervise to ensure timelines and budgetary constraints are met.

Education/Experience

  • At least an Associates degree in Graphic Design or equivalent experience and training.
  • Copy Writing
  • Awareness of intellectual property & copyright protocols
  • Photography and video editing skills desired but not essential
  • Requires a minimum of 2 years graphic design experience.

  • Requires the ability to conduct tours for potential clients.
  • Evening and weekend hours/work required at times over and above the traditional office requirements.

Social Media Strategist

Position Summary
The Social Media Strategist is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy to increase our web traffic and our brand awareness. The ideal candidate will have excellent multitasking skills to handle all our social media accounts in a cohesive way; a creative way of thinking and of presenting our brand through multiple social media channels and ensure our company web presence is aligned with our marketing strategies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Generate, edit and share daily content (original text, images, video) that engages fans and
  • drives tourism to Memphis
  • Assist in the creation and launch of social media campaigns and contests
  • Content may be posted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, SnapChat, YouTube,
  • LinkedIn, Google+
  • Seek out influencers and actively engaged consumers to inspire and motivate them to share information and talk about the brand
  • Engage in conversations and answer questions in all social channels through social listening
  • Stay informed of what’s happening in the Memphis and attend events to capture engaging social media content
  • Align with marketing editorial calendars
  • Proactively identify opportunities in user generated content
  • Be the gatekeeper for all content – ensuring all content is proofread, approved and applicable before posting
  • Develop benchmark metrics to measure the results of social media programs; report on
  • effectiveness of campaigns
  • Be the “go-to” for all social media platform news, as to help inform all teams of any
  • platform changes or opportunities

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or other related field
  • 1-3 years’ work experience in social media, communications or content marketing
  • Experience with social media management systems such as Hootsuite and social media analytics tools
  • Understanding of the social media universe, including experience with YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, YouTube, Google+, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excel at research, and be able to identify threats and opportunities in social media
