Southwest Airlines Spirit Magazine Profiles Memphis

The City of Memphis is profiled in Southwest Airlines Spirit Magazine in the November 2013 issue. The 36-page feature highlights everything from Memphis tourism, food, arts and culture to the city’s business environment, healthcare sector and quality of life. Tourism highlights include a mix of historic and modern attractions such as the National Civil Rights Museum, Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Graceland and the Memphis Zoo.

“Millions of Southwest Airlines’ passengers will be reading about why they should experience Memphis,” said Kevin Kane, president and CEO of the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The long awaited service is a new chapter for Memphis as a visitor destination, and it will increase traffic among travelers arriving and departing Memphis International Airport.”

“I encourage our local community to use this service, which will influence our partners at Southwest to add additional flights in the future,” said Mayor Wharton. “To Southwest Airlines and their team, I say ‘welcome.’ ”

The feature runs the same month that Southwest launches new service from Memphis International Airport to Chicago Midway, Baltimore/DC, Houston, Tampa and Orlando.

The magazine reaches 3.6 million readers. The Memphis profile will be available in all issues of Spirit magazine throughout November.
