Kevin Kane Elected Chair of Destination Marketing Association International

Kane to serve as 2011-2012 Chair

MEMPHIS, Tenn. July 25, 2011 - Kevin Kane, president and CEO of the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau and president of its subsidiary MMG LLC, which manages the Memphis Cook Convention Center and Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, has been elected as the 2011-2012 Chair of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI).

Kane will chair the world’s largest association of destination marketing organizations (DMOs), which serves more than 2,800 members from nearly 650 DMOs in more than 30 countries. Kane officially took over as chair at the association’s annual convention last week in New Orleans, La.

DMAI is the world’s most reliable source for official DMOs and represents the global impact tourism has on the world economy. Membership consists of DMOs, convention and visitor bureaus and tourism boards, which promote the long-term development and marketing of a destination, focusing on convention sales, tourism marketing and service.

A native of Memphis, Kane joined the Memphis CVB in 1991 as president and CEO after directing worldwide sales for Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, then based in Memphis, Tenn. Kane is a board member of the U.S. Travel Association, Southeast Tourism Society and executive committee member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum. In addition to national boards, Kane serves on a number of local boards in Memphis, Tenn.
