The Memphis Botanic Garden is excited to announce its next outdoor exhibition Origami in the

Garden 2 . Beginning September 21, 2018 and ending March 24, 2019, the Garden will showcase

metal works that will spark creativity and unfold imagination. This six month exhibit will feature

24 museum-quality, outdoor sculptures, depicting origami-inspired works crafted by artists

Kevin Box, Te Jui Fu, Beth Johnson, Michael G. LaFosse, and Robert Lang.

All pieces will be placed throughout the Garden's 96 acres. They will provide ample

opportunities for guests to ponder origami's simple messages and learn its history through

interpretive signage, hands-on paper demonstrations and lectures. Thanks to the support of our

sponsors, over 10,000 school children from all corners of our community will have the

opportunity to view this exhibit and participate in an age-appropriate curriculum on Asian

culture & arts as well as tie-ins to their schools STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and

Math) studies.

The Memphis Botanic Garden extends its thanks to International Paper for its Presenting

Sponsorship of this exhibition as well as the Speer Charitable Trust and the Belz Family

Foundation for its underwriting support.

This will be the first time that Origami in the Garden 2 has been exhibited in the Mid-South after

recent showings at botanical gardens in Tucson (AZ), Rancho Santa Ana (CA) and Richmond
