Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant

2600 Poplar Avenue
Memphis, TN 38112

If you're looking for authentic Ehtiopian cuisine in a friendly, casual environment, look no further than Abyssinia. This Midtown eatery serves up some of the best food in town. For the more cautious diner, the chicken stew or stir-fried beef are good options. If you're a little more adventurous, don't miss the salmon kitfo. Entrees are served with homemade cottage cheese and injera (spongy flatbread).

In the Ethiopian tradition, food is not automatically served with utensils. The traditional way to dine is to tear off a piece of the injera and use it to scoop the food into your mouth. If you don't like to eat with your hands, don't worry. Silverware is readily available upon request.

Abyssinia offers a reasonably priced lunch buffet, or diners can order off the menu at dinner time.
