Since 1984, the U.S. Travel Association has been leading the way in spotlighting one of America’s largest industries - the travel and tourism industry. This year’s annual salute will encourage everyone to “Vote Travel” during the week of May 5-13, 2012.

The Memphis Cook Convention Center (MCCC) will kick off its 2011 Books4Bikes campaign to benefit the students at Florida-Kansas Elementary at the weekly luncheon of the Memphis Rotary Club on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 12 noon. Following a tradition that began more than six years ago, the Rotary Club will donate the first bike to the convention center's efforts. The MCCC's goal is to collect more than 75 new bikes that will be awarded to the students just before their Christmas holiday break.

Visitors to Memphis will now be able to download a free mobile application that’s just as unique as its hometown. The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau announced today the release of the Memphis Travel mobile application, which will be available to download for free in the iTunes Store and Android Market.

The cities that gave the world the two greatest popular music icons are to join forces to become Rock ‘n’ Soul Mates as part of a Transatlantic strategy to build cultural awareness and encourage destination tourism and business links.

The joint public and private sector initiative - forged by the cities of Liverpool and Memphis - hopes to encourage tourists to explore the many links between the cities whose music and history shaped the world - with a little help from The Beatles and Elvis Presley.
