The Pink Palace Museum is one of the largest museums in the Mid-South. It features exhibits and artifacts from the Mid-South's natural and cultural history, an IMAX theatre and the Sharpe Planetarium.
The museum is located in the former future home of Clarence Saunders, the founder of the Piggly Wiggly chain of grocery stores. Saunders was never able to live in the house.
Some of the museum's features include a replica of the original Piggly Wiggly (the world's first self service grocery store), a massive moving model circus, a shrunken head, an extensive exhibit on the health care industry in the Mid-South, and exhibits on the daily lives of Memphians from the Civil War through the present.
The Pink Palace also hosts rotating special exhibits throughout the year.
